1. About This Service
The Gulf University Alumni Portal ("Portal") is operated by Gulf University, Kingdom of Bahrain. It provides alumni with networking, career services, event management, and community engagement tools. By creating an account or using the Portal, you agree to these Terms.
2. Eligibility & Access
- Access is by invitation only. You must receive an invite from a Gulf University administrator to create an account.
- You must provide accurate information during registration. Your invite email becomes your account identifier and cannot be changed.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure. Do not share your credentials with anyone.
3. What the Portal Provides
- Alumni Directory & Map: Your profile and location are visible to other alumni by default, enabling networking and reconnection with former colleagues.
- Career Services: Job board, dream job matching, and interview preparation tools. Job advertisers may contact you with relevant opportunities unless you opt out.
- Community: Discussion forums, direct messaging between alumni, and community engagement features.
- Events & Surveys: Event registration, attendance tracking, and feedback surveys from the university.
- Recognition: Awards nominations, guest speaker programmes, ambassador and committee opportunities.
4. Your Responsibilities
- Keep your profile information accurate and up to date.
- Do not use the Portal for spam, harassment, commercial solicitation, or any unlawful activity.
- Respect other alumni. Content you post in discussions, messages, or community forums must not be offensive, defamatory, or misleading.
- Do not attempt to access other users' accounts or data without authorisation.
5. Privacy & Data Defaults
As part of the service, the following are enabled by default when you join:
- Location visibility on the alumni map (once you complete your profile with location data).
- Advertiser contact — job recruiters may reach out to you with career opportunities.
These defaults exist because visibility and career support are core reasons alumni join the Portal. You can opt out of either setting at any time from your Profile > Privacy Settings. Our full Privacy Policy explains how your data is collected, used, and protected.
6. Intellectual Property
The Portal, its design, and its features are owned by Gulf University. Content you submit (profile data, discussion posts, messages) remains yours, but you grant Gulf University a non-exclusive licence to display it within the Portal as needed to provide the service.
7. Account Suspension & Termination
Gulf University may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, misuse the Portal, or upon request from the alumni office. You may request account deletion at any time by contacting the alumni office.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Portal is provided "as is." Gulf University makes no guarantees about uptime, job placement outcomes, or the accuracy of information provided by other users or advertisers. Gulf University is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Portal.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, you will be notified through the Portal and may be asked to re-accept. Continued use of the Portal after changes constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Any disputes shall be resolved through the courts of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
